FAQ

  • Q51:

Can Smart Film Be Cut to Any Size or Shape?

    A:

Smart film can be cut to fit many glass sizes and shapes, but it should not be cut with ordinary scissors or an unsuitable blade. Use a dedicated rotary cutting tool to produce a clean, precise edge and prevent the film layers from sticking together along the cut. The cutting plan must also leave suitable space for the electrical connection. For complex shapes or large projects, we recommend factory cutting.

  • Q52:

Can I Use Soapy Water to Reposition Self-Adhesive Smart Film?

    A:

No. Do not use the wet application method commonly used for conventional window film. Align the smart film carefully before applying it, then attach it gradually according to the installation instructions.

  • Q53:

Why Does Wet Installation Cause Problems for Self-Adhesive Smart Film?

    A:

Water trapped between the film and glass interferes with adhesion. It can leave visible bubbles or areas that do not stick securely. The film should be applied only after the cleaned glass is dry.

  • Q54:

Should I Spray Water on the Glass Before Installing Self-Adhesive Smart Film?

    A:

No. Clean the glass thoroughly, then make sure it is completely dry before applying the film. Any water left on the surface can cause bubbles and prevent the adhesive from bonding properly.

  • Q55:

Is Self-Adhesive Smart Film Installed Like Regular Window Film?

    A:

No. InnoGlass self-adhesive smart film uses a dry installation method. Many conventional window films are installed with water or application solution, but water should not be used between self-adhesive smart film and the glass.

  • Q56:

How Do I Choose Between Laminated Smart Glass and Self-Adhesive Smart Film?

    A:

Choose laminated smart glass when ordering new glass or when enclosing the film within the panel is important. Choose self-adhesive smart film when suitable glass is already installed and avoiding replacement is the priority. Confirm the environment, glass dimensions, wiring and total installed cost before ordering.

  • Q57:

Should I Use Laminated Smart Glass or Self-Adhesive Smart Film in a Bathroom?

    A:

For glass frequently exposed to water or moisture, laminated smart glass is generally the better starting point, provided its edges and electrical connections are properly designed. Self-adhesive film should be considered only on a dry, protected surface that meets its installation requirements.

  • Q58:

Is Self-Adhesive Smart Film Cheaper Than Laminated Smart Glass?

    A:

It can cost less for an existing glass partition because the glass does not need to be replaced. For new construction, compare the total cost of glass, fabrication, installation, wiring and controls before deciding which option is more economical.

  • Q59:

Is Laminated Smart Glass More Durable Than Self-Adhesive Smart Film?

    A:

Laminated smart glass provides better physical protection for the film because it is enclosed within the glass. Self-adhesive film has an exposed surface and edges, so installation quality, edge protection and cleaning practices matter more. Actual service life depends on the product and conditions of use.

  • Q60:

When Is Self-Adhesive Smart Film Better Than Laminated Smart Glass?

    A:

Self-adhesive smart film is often the more practical option when suitable glass is already installed and you want to add switchable privacy without replacing it.
