FAQ

  • Q11:

What smart glass is suitable for hotel windows?

    A:

For hotel windows where privacy and sunlight control are both important, DLC smart glass can be a good solution. It changes between a transparent state and a dark privacy state, providing more light and shading control than conventional PDLC privacy glass.

  • Q12:

What smart glass is suitable for hotel bathrooms?

    A:

PDLC and PNLC smart glass are both suitable for hotel bathroom partitions. They provide instant privacy without traditional curtains or blinds and help create a clean, spacious and modern interior. Laminated smart glass is generally recommended for permanent hotel bathroom installations.

  • Q13:

Should I choose PDLC or PNLC smart glass for privacy?

    A:

PDLC is frosted when powered off and clear when powered on, making it suitable for most privacy applications. PNLC works in reverse: clear when powered off and frosted when powered on. PNLC is often preferred when the glass needs to remain transparent most of the time without continuous power.

  • Q14:

What is the best smart glass for offices and meeting rooms?

    A:

PDLC smart glass is one of the most practical choices for offices and meeting rooms because it provides instant switching between clear and frosted states. PNLC is suitable when the glass needs to remain clear without power. For meeting rooms requiring screen data protection, Display Cloaking Film can also be used.

  • Q15:

How do I choose the right smart glass or smart film for different applications?

    A:

The right solution depends on whether the main requirement is privacy, solar control, glare reduction, natural daylight, or a combination of these functions. PDLC and PNLC are mainly used for privacy, DLC combines privacy with light control, while EP (SPD) is better suited for dynamic solar control. Photochromic glass provides automatic shading without electrical powe

  • Q16:

How Do EC Smart Glass and EP (SPD) Smart Glass Differ in Construction?

    A:

EC smart glass uses an electrochromic functional coating integrated with a glass substrate. The functional glass is typically assembled into an insulated glass unit (IGU); it is not made by laminating a separate switchable film between two panes. In some EC glazing designs, the functional glass is positioned toward the exterior and provides solar control as part of the IGU design.

EP (SPD) smart glass uses a different structure: the SPD film is laminated between glass panes, and the laminated panel is then incorporated into an IGU. In a typical EP IGU configuration, the EP laminated panel is positioned toward the interior, with Low-E glass on the exterior side to support the unit’s thermal performance.

  • Q17:

Where Is EC Smart Glass Commonly Used?

    A:

EC glass is suited to windows, façades and skylights where daylight and solar exposure change during the day. The glazing and control strategy should be selected for the building’s orientation and intended use.

  • Q18:

Can EC Smart Glass Help Reduce Glare and Solar Heat?

    A:

Darkening the glass can reduce incoming visible light and glare. Solar heat performance depends on the complete glazing construction, so compare tested values such as visible light transmission (VLT) and solar heat gain coefficient (SHGC) for the proposed unit.

  • Q19:

How Fast Does EC Smart Glass Change Tint?

    A:

EC glass generally changes tint gradually. The time to reach a selected state varies with the product, panel size and operating conditions. If rapid switching is essential, compare the stated switching times of the proposed EC and EP (SPD) products.

  • Q20:

Does EC Smart Glass Need Continuous Power to Stay Dark?

    A:

EC glass uses electricity to change tint. Many EC systems can retain a selected tint with little or no continuous power, but the exact behavior depends on the product and controller. Confirm the power and power-outage specifications for the proposed glass.
