FAQ

  • Q121:

Does DLC Smart Film Provide Privacy?

    A:

Yes. Its dark opaque off-state blocks the view through the glass, providing privacy while reducing incoming light.

  • Q122:

Is DLC Smart Film Clear When Powered On?

    A:

Yes. When the appropriate voltage is applied, the liquid crystal and dye molecules align to increase visible light transmission, changing the film from its dark state to a clearer transparent state, but still have tinted color.

  • Q123:

What Is the Difference Between DLC and PDLC Smart Film?

    A:

PDLC mainly controls privacy by switching between frosted and transparent states. DLC uses dye-based light absorption to create a darker state, combining privacy, light control and solar shading.

  • Q124:

How Does DLC Smart Film Work?

    A:

DLC film uses an electric field to control the orientation of liquid crystal and dye molecules. When their orientation changes, the amount of light absorbed and transmitted through the film also changes, creating different optical states.

  • Q125:

    What Is DLC Smart Film?

    A:

DLC (Dye Liquid Crystal) smart film combines liquid crystal and dye materials to control light transmission. It can switch between a dark privacy state and a clearer transparent state, providing both privacy and solar shading.

  • Q126:

What is the difference between PNLC and PDLC Smart Film?

    A:

Both PNLC and PDLC use liquid crystal technology to control light transmission, but their material structures and optical behavior are different. PNLC uses a polymer network structure, while conventional PDLC uses polymer-dispersed liquid crystal droplets. The switching behavior, optical performance, haze and visual appearance can therefore differ between the two technologies.

  • Q127:

What is PNLC Smart Film and how does it work?

    A:

PNLC, also referred to as reverse PDLC film. Unlike standard PDLC film, PNLC remains transparent in the power-off state and switches to frosted opaque when powered on. Our PNLC film delivers excellent UV resistance, making it suitable for sunlit windows and sun-exposed glass applications.

  • Q128:

Can PDLC Smart Film be controlled by a switch, remote control or smart home system?

    A:

Yes. PDLC Smart Film can be controlled using wall switches, remote controls, dimming controllers and, depending on the control system, smart home or building automation systems. Multiple panels can also be connected to a centralized control system for larger projects.

  • Q129:

How long does PDLC Smart Film last?

    A:

The service life of PDLC Smart Film depends on film construction, electrical control system, installation quality, operating conditions and environmental exposure. Our PDLC smart film has passed relevant tests with a rated lifespan of 100,000 hours. High-quality PDLC film with proper installation and appropriate operating conditions can maintain stable long-term performance. Manufacturers should provide durability and accelerated aging test data for specific products.

  • Q130:

How is self-adhesive PDLC Smart Film installed?

    A:

Dry application: Ensure the glass surface is fully cleaned first. Align and position the self-adhesive film onto the glass directly. Slowly peel off the release liner while pressing the film onto the glass. Carefully squeeze out trapped air bubbles with a squeegee. Let the film settle fully before edge sealing and final testing. Correct installation is critical for a smooth, even finish.
