Modern Office Smart Privacy Solutions
Modern offices need to balance privacy, openness and natural light!
InnoGlass smart glass and film solutions transform ordinary glass partitions into flexible privacy solutions, allowing spaces to switch between transparent and private states when needed.
PDLC and PNLC Smart Film are ideal for glass office partitions, meeting rooms, executive offices and other shared spaces. They provide instant visual privacy while maintaining a clean, open and modern workspace when transparency is required.
Common Challenges
Lack of privacy
Open-plan offices and glass partitions provide visibility, but confidential meetings and private conversations require better visual privacy.
Balancing Privacy and Openness
Permanent opaque partitions can make offices feel closed and reduce natural light. Businesses need privacy without sacrificing an open, spacious environment.
Limited Flexibility
Traditional glass partitions cannot adapt to changing workspace needs. Different areas may require transparency at one moment and privacy the next.

FAQ
Q1:
What is the difference between PNLC and PDLC Smart Film?
A:
Both PNLC and PDLC use liquid crystal technology to control light transmission, but their material structures and optical behavior are different. PNLC uses a polymer network structure, while conventional PDLC uses polymer-dispersed liquid crystal droplets. The switching behavior, optical performance, haze and visual appearance can therefore differ between the two technologies.
Q2:
What is PNLC Smart Film and how does it work?
A:
PNLC, also referred to as reverse PDLC film. Unlike standard PDLC film, PNLC remains transparent in the power-off state and switches to frosted opaque when powered on. Our PNLC film delivers excellent UV resistance, making it suitable for sunlit windows and sun-exposed glass applications.
Q3:
Can Smart Film Be Installed on Curved or Irregularly Shaped Glass?
A:
Some films and glass constructions can accommodate curves or custom shapes, but feasibility depends on the film type, bending radius, cutting method and busbar position. Provide a dimensioned drawing and, for curved glass, the radius before ordering. Complex designs should be reviewed before fabrication.
Q4:
Can Smart Film Be Used on Sliding Doors, Hinged Doors or Operable Windows?
A:
Yes, if the film, glass and electrical connection are designed for the moving panel. Sliding and hinged systems need different wire routes and protection methods. Confirm the opening direction, frame details and available space for the cable before production.
Q5:
What Are the Maximum Sizes for Self-Adhesive Film, Laminating Film and Finished Smart Glass?
A:
Available roll widths vary by film type. For example, current self-adhesive PDLC film is commonly available in 1.0, 1.2, 1.5 and 1.8 m widths, while PNLC film is available in 1.2 and 1.45 m widths. Finished smart glass is generally available up to approximately 1.8 × 3.66 m, depending on its construction. Share the dimensions of each glass panel in your project, and we can review the suitable film size and glass solution.
Q6:
What Information Do You Need to Recommend the Right Smart Film or Smart Glass?
A:
First, tell us what you want the glass to do: provide privacy, control sunlight and glare, or both. Then share the glass dimensions, application (such as an office partition, door, window or skylight), and whether the glass is new or already installed. Photos or drawings of the glass and frame will help us recommend a suitable film or finished glass solution.
Q7:
Why Do Smart Film and Smart Glass Need a Compatible Sealant Around the Film Edges and Electrodes?
A:
The film edges and electrical connections are vulnerable to moisture and other liquids. A compatible sealant helps protect them from exposure that could affect switching performance. Electrodes commonly use materials such as silver paste and copper tape, which can oxidize if left unprotected. Sealing these areas helps reduce that risk. The sealant must also be compatible with the smart film and its electrical components; ordinary glass sealant should not be used without confirming compatibility.
Q8:
Why Do Smart Film and Smart Glass Need a Dedicated Transformer?
A:
Smart film and smart glass are designed to operate at a specified AC voltage. Many products use AC 60 V, while others are designed for AC 48 V or AC 110 V. A dedicated transformer supplies the voltage required by the particular product. If the voltage is too low, the film may not reach its intended clear state; if it is too high, the electrical layers may be damaged or break down. Always match the transformer’s output voltage and frequency to the product specification—do not connect smart film directly to the mains supply.
Q9:
What is the best smart glass for offices and meeting rooms?
A:
PDLC smart glass is one of the most practical choices for offices and meeting rooms because it provides instant switching between clear and frosted states. PNLC is suitable when the glass needs to remain clear without power. For meeting rooms requiring screen data protection, Display Cloaking Film can also be used.
